1988 Alvarez Yairi DY-53 “European Jumbo” guitar in very good condition. Vintage wood tone & top-level craftsmanship at an affordable price!
This guitar has it all: looks, play-ability, and tone. And it’s versatile! I have mainly used it for finger-style, but it strums great as well. Hand-crafted in Japan by master guitar builder Kazuo Yairi whose guitars have long been played by professional musicians such as Bob Weir, Ani DiFranco, and Monty Montgomery. The pecan back and sides are unusual and produce a warm, clean sound. This guitar has aged beautifully.
The DY-53 features a striking pecan back and sides and a nicely aged solid spruce top. 16″ lower bout, 4-5/8″ body depth, bone nut and saddle, 1-11/16″ nut width, ebony fretboard, very nice abalone rosette around sound hole. The neck is rock solid and plays nice and low. Since upgrading to a more expensive instrument, I have kept it in a humidity-controlled room for years.
